Meet Charles Carpino
Charles Dean Photography
Charles Carpino is a professional photographer living in Mount Dora, FL with his artist wife, Korinne Carpino. Charles retired from thirty years of working as an electrician, in a number of different capacities, in 2013. He returned to school to study the art of photography at the Hallmark Institute of Photography in Massachusetts.
Upon relocating to Mount Dora in 2015, Charles opened Charles Dean Photography. Despite a very busy schedule, he found an interest in the art of Suminagashi. Finding inspiration from Korinne’s art work, he developed his own techniques combining the art of Suminagashi and Photography to create thought provoking abstract images.
“Suminagashi” is the Japanese art of marbling, dating back to the 12th Century. Translating directly to 'floating ink', the marbling process uses a richly pigmented sumi ink floating on water, which is then manipulated into distinctive patterns.
All images are available in different sizes and finishes upon request.
