I have always had a life-long appreciation of quilts. During the summer break from teaching, I would visit Amish farms in Wisconsin and purchase bed quilts and furniture. After retiring from teaching in 2005, my sister encouraged me to begin quilting myself. I made a few pieces which my sister volunteered to quilt.
Ultimately, I decided to hire a professional quilter. I see quilt making as a process of selecting the right material, design, and quilting to complete an art form. My favorite fabrics are traditional Japanese fabric such as indigo and dobby weave. I assemble the quilt tops, meet with the long arm quilter to decide on a pattern and thread.
I started entering shows and winning awards in Gainesville and Jacksonville. In 2015, one of my quilts won Best of Show in Gainesville.
I display my work in the Rainbow Springs Art Gallery in Dunnellon and Artisans on fifth in Mount Dora. I participated in the Rainbow Springs Art Show in Dunnellon in 2017 and 2018.
